Lazarus Lutheran Church

Lazarus Lutheran Church

Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod

31150 Birnham Woods Dr
Spring, TX 77388

Lazarus Church began in 2018 as a vision to reach the Spring/Woodlands area with the message of Jesus. Pastor Mark & Laura Pulliam heard this vision and couldn't wait to get started. By late 2019, over a dozen individuals were commissioned by nearby supporting congregations to join this new mission start. In January 2020, Lazarus Church was born. And if this journey so far has taught us anything, it's that even a pandemic can't stop God from doing great things!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where & when do you meet? + -

We meet at Birnham Woods Elementary School in the Falls at Imperial Oaks neighborhood. Enter the front parking lot by the school marquee and look for the main entrance (under the large portico). Worship begins at 10:00am but our team begins setup closer to 9:00am so feel free to come early and enjoy a cup of coffee. The service lasts approximately 60 minutes. Running late? That’s okay. We promise it's not a disruption to join late so come on!

Can I bring my kids? + -

Parents, you've got a tough job. Most of us are parents or grandparents so we get it. If there is anything we can do to make your life easier, let us know. Children are just as welcome in worship as adults and because of the interactive nature of worship (from catchy songs to prayers & creeds that are easily memorized even from a young age), we welcome kids to participate in worship with their families! To help facilitate this, we have a couple recommendations that might help you out: Babies & Toddlers: Need a diaper change? A fully-stocked changing station is located near the bathrooms. Worried your baby or toddler will make noise? We aren't! The Bible tells us "make a joyful noise to the Lord" (Psalm 100:1) and there is no more joyful sound than children playing. The best thing we can teach children at this developmental stage is that church is a fun, safe place to be. Towards the back of the worship space, we have rocking chairs and a small play area with toys for toddlers. Young Children: During the message, Lazarus Kids (geared towards PreK through early elementary) meets in a hallway adjacent to the worship space for an age-appropriate lesson based on the Bible passage and theme for the day. Coloring pages and children's Bibles are available during the service (don't have a Bible at home? take one of ours!). As our church grows, our ministry to kids will grow as well. If you would be interested in getting involved in hosting a class for elementary age children during the sermon, contact DCE Laura. Want more information about helping your elementary age child participate more fully in their faith right now? Contact Pastor Mark. Older Children: Youth in 6th-12th grade are invited to worship with their parents. As our church grows, our ministry to kids will grow as well. We currently have one discipleship group just for teens and parents! Want more information about helping your 6th-12th grader participate more fully in their faith right now? Contact Pastor Mark.

Can I take Holy Communion? + -

If you’re visiting, catch Pastor Mark before the service!

What should I expect? + -

We’ll be explaining each part of the service as we experience it. God's people have been gathering for worship for thousands of years, so we like to include the best of many centuries in our worship services. Don't be surprised when we speak the Apostles' Creed (which finds its roots as early as the first century) followed by a song that was written a few years ago! Singing is led by piano or or acoustic guitar and we rely heavily on voices rather than a band (if you grew up going to camp as a child, it may feel a bit nostalgic). You’ll be invited to participate in spoken responses including confession & forgiveness, prayers, the Apostles’ Creed, and Bible verses. The words will be available on the screen and via digital or paper bulletin. Each Sunday, we celebrate either a baptism or communion.
